Practical tips
Book flights to Santiago at least 2 months ahead: July–September fills up.
If you're carrying more than 8 kg, consider bag transfer. Walking 25 km with extra weight wrecks knees.
Renfe sells tickets 2 months in advance. There are "promo" fares 60% cheaper.
BlaBlaCar has good Spain–Portugal coverage. Sometimes cheaper and faster than train+bus.
For the Inglés: fly to A Coruña + bus to Ferrol (40 min). There's also a direct Madrid–Ferrol train (8 h).
